This evening I’m sitting on the couch next to my sweet husband with my laptop, researching some artists for upcoming interviews.
You’d think that would add up to a lovely evening wouldn’t you?
You, my friend, would be 10 kinds of wrong.
Why? Because instead of listening to this artist’s great music, on their nicely designed web site, I’ve been sent to purgatory Myspace to listen to their songs because they don’t have their own music on their own website.
Really. What if you came to my blog to read my posts and I had lots of pictures of me, videos, a store...but no actual blog posts?
That wouldn’t make any sense would it?
Neither does sending people from your website to Myspace.
Myspace is ugly, annoying and unreliable. For the sake of all that is good and right, please post your music on YOUR site.
Why do so many artists do this? I honestly don’t understand. Teach me.
I am a huge fan of Salvador’s music. Maybe it’s my South Texas upbringing. Maybe it’s my penchant for incredible music but I just don’t think you can go wrong with these guys.
They have a new album coming out chalked full of their pop/latin funk and if you pre-order it now, it’s only $7.99 with free shipping. That’s a great deal if you ask me.

Brannon posted this fun tidbit of news on his blog:
Matt Slocum and Leigh Nash are back in the studio working away on a brand new EP.
Check out the new song on their MySpace page.
Happy day!

It looks like my friend Brody is trying to “web 2.0ize” the entire city of Nashville and all of the CCM industry.
Cool.
He and Randy just launched Natalie Grants new blog and he’s gotten Bart Millard from Mercy Me started on Twitter.
Personally, I’m excited to see what Natalie has to say about social justice issues. She’s one of the first CCM artists I heard talking about it.
Like any true blogger, though, she’s started off right with a post about how she was defeated by a box of Hot Tamales…
Love it.

Oprah Winfrey’s new tv show, The Big Give, will feature a song from the Robbie Seay Band.
The band’s song NEW DAY will be featured on this sunday’s episode, airing at 8pm central time - March 16th.
We’re pretty stinking excited about the chance to be involved in the show.

Jeremy Thiessen from the band Downhere wrote a great post today about how Christian artists inside and outside the CCM industry need to respond to one another.
After all, we claim to be part of the same Body… shouldn’t we act like it??

I’ve visited several musician’s sites lately that use .m3u’s to allow readers to listen to their songs.
I highly recommend using another approach. Many web surfers (myself included) don’t appreciate having to download a file and have it added to their music player in order to hear your music, especially when there are so many great flash players available such as this one.

This is a bit of a no brainer. Everyone likes good music and every musician strives to make good music.
Music lovers can occassionally be like lemmings.
If someone feels like they have a connection with an artist, they will listen to their music even if the quality isn’t as high as they’d like.
