Hello, My Name Is…Jimmy

I thought I’d start this “Hello, My Name Is...” series off with the answers from my sweet husband. Here’s a photo of us taken last week by my 3 year old.
1. What is your name or pseudonym and where do you live?
My Name is Jimmy, and I live in Central Texas...with you dear.
2. How did you find The Secret Life of Kat? Why do you read it?
It found me and I married it. I read it to see what is going though my wife’s mind at any given point in time, to be inspired, to make sure no one makes any mean comments to her on her blog, and to see if any of my recent bloopers were blog-able.
3. What do you do?
I am a quality assurance manager for an HR outsourcing company.
4. What is one thing you’d like to brag about....if you were a bragger?
I can stand on one foot and put one hand behind my back and Kat still can’t knock me down. I mock her while she tries and tries. It really burns her up. It’s great.
5. Recommend: 1 book, 1 musician, 1 movie, 1 blog
Book: Ivanhoe, Sir Walter Scott
Musician: Mat Kearny
Movie: If you have never seen Visual Bible’s ‘Matthew’ then I recommend that. It Portrays the closest thing to Jesus, as I think him to be, as I have ever seen.
Blog: branthanson.typepad.com. I read this one consistently but do not have the brainpower to make meaningful comments very often.
6. What is something significant you’ve learned this year?
I feel rich. And I only started feeling that way when I became genuinely content with what I already have.
7. What is your favorite quote or verse?
“Ships in harbor are safe. But that’s not what ships are made for.” Unknown Source.
8. Based on your life experience, what is one nugget of wisdom you’d like to share?
Have a happy heart.
9. If you have a blog, what is the web address?
N/A
And my favorite icebreaker question of all time:
10. How many 5 year olds do you think you could take in a fight?
I usually go down once the 25th one jumps in.

Isn’t he cute and witty?
And if you haven’t submitted your “Hello, My Name Is...” answers yet, please take a few minutes to do so. Whether this is your first time reading this blog or your millionth, I’d like to hear from you. And hey, you’ll get fame, fortune and a free link.
Well, a free link anyway.

So the truth comes out about Jimmy.
I like Matt Kearny - not usually a fan of the mix of lyrical and rap, but his is just so catchy.
I’ve tried reading Ivanhoe I don’t know how many times, but I just can’t get through it.
25 five-year olds, eh? Is this based on your own five-year old?

Euphrony, I can’t get through Ivanhoe either.
Jimmy, I’m a big fan of Brant Hansen’s blog as well, but I too don’t comment very much.

"25 five-year-olds, eh? Is this based on your ow n five-year-old?”
Euphrony,
Perhaps it’s based on the fact (sad but true) that even his 31 year old somewhat athletic wife can’t knock him down even when he’s “standing on one foot with one arm behind his back”.

He never answered, but he must be a well-rooted tree to not be knocked over by his “31 year old somewhat athletic wife”.

I love that quote! I’ve never heard it before. I also love Mat Kearney. Never read Ivanhoe. Now regretting my very shallow book recommendation!

john wanted to try the “stand on foot, one arm game,”
I pushed him down right away.....
but then I told him that he could hop around .....can he hop around?

Unfortunately, yes, I allow Jimmy to hop around. However, Diana, you are a personal trainer and professional dancer and a rock climber and, um, a bit more in shape than I am…
Wanna create a “Knock Jimmy Down” workout routine for me?
By the way The Small Person and I went rock climbing the other day. She’s REALLY good at it. I wish the SLC allowed “outsiders” to use their rock.

Euphrony,
Funny!
I would have to say that he’s an Oak tree. He is very deeply rooted and covers his family well.
Amy,
Don’t feel bad about your book recommendation. My husband is quite the voracious reader (in spurts) and I often feel very shallow - sitting on the couch reading blogs while he’s reading War and Peace or other really thick books by Russian authors.

Diana - If I recall, you have never been able to knock me down either.
This brings me great satisfaction to think about.
Tell John that he can bounce around to avoid a direct blow. That is how we used to do it. However, now I stand still and let her try, but still to no avail for her. But she tries so hard and does not give up easy (because she is so mad that she can’t get me down), so it is great fun.
I am sure John can do the same. It must be a matter of technique. The key is to make good use of the free hand and to lower the shoulder at the right time.
And don’t worry John. One thing I have learned as Diana’s brother is that she is not fragile. So go ahead, lower a good hard shoulder the next time she charges and you will set the tone for the rest of the contest.

oh this so fun… and yes, he is cute and witty. i can’t wait to read everyone else’s. can i steal your idea for my blog?

I’m impressed by the one foot and one hand behind the back trick. He must have a tremendous sense of balance.

I just love Jimmy!!! I can’t wait to see you guys next month. I also do not believe this nonsense about Kat not being able to knock Jimmy down… I will have to see this to believe it.
